What is Violet & Blair?
What is Violet & Blair?
Violet & Blair was never just a magazine—it was a world.
Built from a desire to capture fashion as more than clothing, but as ritual, identity, and devotion, Violet & Blair existed as a curated lens into the lives, minds, and artistry of those who live for style. Each page was intentional. Each story, a reflection of obsession. Each issue, a moment preserved.
What began in San Antonio as an independent publication quickly became something deeper—a platform for emerging creatives, a space for designers to be seen, and a visual language that spoke to those who understood that fashion is not surface-level. It is personal. It is powerful. It is everything.
Through editorials, features, and storytelling, Violet & Blair explored the intersection of beauty, culture, and self-expression with a voice that was unapologetically bold, intimate, and refined.
As we close this chapter, we do so not out of loss—but out of evolution.
Violet & Blair was created to capture a moment in time, and it did exactly that. The vision, the people, the energy—it lives on in everything it touched and everyone it inspired.
This is not a goodbye.
It’s a legacy.
Meet Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Violet Blair Sapien
Fashion has always been more than clothing for me—it’s been my language, my lifeline, and my way of telling the world exactly who I am. My name is Violet, and I’m the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Violet & Blair, a high-fashion, lifestyle magazine born from a love affair with style, storytelling, and the belief that fashion is one of the most powerful forms of self-expression.
Growing up in San Antonio, I always felt the pull of bigger dreams. Clothes were never just pieces of fabric to me; they were an escape, a vision board for the life I wanted to live, and a canvas where I could shape my own identity. As a young trans woman, fashion became a safe space where I could embrace my femininity unapologetically and present myself to the world exactly as I saw myself. In many ways, it saved me—it gave me confidence, a voice, and the courage to step into my own story.
My journey into fashion began in high school, where I immersed myself in every opportunity available. From helping produce my school’s fashion shows to competing in design challenges like the University of Incarnate Word’s Red Dress Competition, I learned early on that fashion isn’t just about glamour; it’s about hard work, creativity, and vision. I also built strong relationships within the Texas fashion industry, which opened the door to Texas Fashion Week. There, I found myself behind the scenes, not only watching but contributing to the culture of fashion in my home state. Those experiences taught me the importance of community, storytelling, and the unique magic that happens when creativity meets discipline.
But even with these opportunities, I always felt something was missing in the way fashion was being presented. So much of what I saw felt either watered down or inaccessible. I craved something bolder—something that captured the intoxicating love affair we have with fashion, but also spoke to women like me, who view fashion as more than a trend cycle but as an extension of our identities, ambitions, and obsessions. That craving became the seed for Violet & Blair.
Launching a magazine at 18 might seem ambitious, but I’ve never been afraid of chasing the impossible. I envisioned Violet & Blair not just as a publication, but as a statement: a style anthology that feels both timeless and daring, seductive yet sophisticated. It’s a space where creativity isn’t restrained by tradition, where readers don’t just flip through glossy pages but experience a world that inspires, provokes, and leaves them wanting more.
What makes Violet & Blair different is its heart. Each issue isn’t just about curating fashion; it’s about giving back and connecting to something bigger than ourselves. A portion of every issue supports causes close to me—whether it’s relief efforts for children in Gaza or supporting trans youth initiatives—because I believe fashion should be about impact as much as it is about image.
Now, as I prepare to soon begin my studies in Fashion Marketing at LIM College in New York City, I see Violet & Blair as both my first great passion project and the foundation of what I hope will become a legacy. It represents not just my voice, but the voices of all the dreamers, creators, and outsiders who believe that fashion is more than an industry—it’s an art form, a revolution, and sometimes, a lifeline.
To me, Violet & Blair isn’t just a magazine. It’s a mirror for those who see fashion as their obsession, their safe place, and their way of taking up space in the world unapologetically. I hope you fall in love with it the way I have, and I hope that as you turn each page, you feel the spark of the same passion that’s been driving me since the very beginning.
